Peer Review Policy

Overview

Bunyād follows a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scholarly integrity of all published content. Under this system, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process. The journal is committed to maintaining fairness, objectivity, confidentiality, and academic excellence in evaluating submitted manuscripts.

Initial Editorial Assessment

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes a preliminary assessment by the Editorial Board. At this stage, manuscripts are evaluated for:

  • Relevance to the aims and scope of the journal;

  • Originality and scholarly contribution;

  • Adherence to the journal's submission guidelines;

  • Academic quality and methodological soundness;

  • Compliance with ethical and plagiarism standards.

Manuscripts that fail to meet these requirements may be rejected without external review.

Selection of Reviewers

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers possessing relevant subject expertise. Reviewers are selected on the basis of their academic qualifications, research experience, and familiarity with the manuscript's subject area.

The journal seeks to avoid conflicts of interest when appointing reviewers.

Double-Blind Review Process

The identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another throughout the review process. Authors are required to remove identifying information from manuscripts prior to review.

Reviewers are requested to evaluate manuscripts objectively and provide constructive feedback supported by clear academic reasoning.

Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers assess manuscripts on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Originality and significance of the research;

  • Contribution to existing scholarship;

  • Clarity of research objectives and arguments;

  • Adequacy of theoretical and methodological framework;

  • Quality and relevance of evidence and sources;

  • Organization, coherence, and presentation;

  • Engagement with relevant literature;

  • Language, style, and academic writing standards;

  • Compliance with ethical research practices.

Review Recommendations

Reviewers may recommend one of the following outcomes:

  • Accept without revisions;

  • Accept with minor revisions;

  • Revise and resubmit;

  • Accept with major revisions;

  • Reject.

The Editorial Board considers all reviewers' reports before making a final decision.

Reviewer Recognition

Bunyād acknowledges the scholarly contribution of its reviewers and provides a nominal honorarium as a token of appreciation for their voluntary academic service. This does not influence the independence, anonymity, or integrity of the peer-review process.

Author Revisions

Where revisions are required, authors receive anonymized reviewer comments and are expected to submit a revised manuscript along with a response explaining how the comments have been addressed.

Failure to adequately address reviewers' concerns may result in rejection of the manuscript.

Editorial Decision

The final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection rests with the Editorial Board. The Board may seek additional reviews where reviewers' recommendations substantially differ or where further expert evaluation is deemed necessary.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts received by Bunyād are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers and editors must not disclose, discuss, distribute, or use unpublished material for personal or professional advantage.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers and editors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could affect the impartial evaluation of a manuscript. Individuals with conflicts of interest will not participate in the review or editorial decision-making process.

Timeliness

Reviewers are expected to complete their evaluations within the timeframe specified by the Editorial Board. Authors are informed of editorial decisions as promptly as possible.

Ethical Standards

The peer-review process is conducted in accordance with internationally recognized standards of publication ethics. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or any other form of academic misconduct.
