Abstract
Fahmida Riaz unfolds Rashed’s portrayal of the opposite sex in his poetry. She considers his treatment of ‘women’ as mere ‘objects of use’ in his poems. His outlook was conventional in this regard, she argues, as opposed to his otherwise modern approach, especially in the structure and construction of his verse, which undoubtedly marks the beginning of modern poetry.
