Abstract

This essay discusses the influence of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s movement. It particularly takes into account the importance that Sir Syed placed on scientific inquiry as well as his interpretation of several religious texts. The author discusses Syed’s influence on later generations of writers and intellectuals and its impact on subsequent socio-political developments in the subcontinent.
