Abstract

‘Taṡniya’ or the method of representing nouns in pairs besides the singular and plural forms is derived in Urdu from the Arabic language. However, this has not been formalized as a rule of grammar in Urdu. This article makes a case for this rule to be formalized in Urdu as there are a large number of words used in this form.
