Abstract
This article takes into account the Urdu newspapers and periodicals of India that went into circulation between 1815 and 1857 and establishes their contribution to literature through the literary material published in them as well as the quality of language employed in their content. The article discusses some papers like the Delhi Urdu Akhbar, Syed al-Akhbar and Koh-i Noor, among others.
