Abstract

Nasir Abbas Nayyar is not only a famous critic of Urdu language and literature but also an eminent story writer. In his short stories, topic and language-related experimentation can be observed. He does not focus on a specific narrative technique, rather incorporates variation. In his writing, local narratives, existential, philosophical ideas and questions, as well as the latest literary techniques can be seen. Furthermore, along with representation of mental instabilities, political and social concerns of the modern age also color his work. Comprising of specific existential, philosophical contexts and indigenous narratives, these short stories are a fresh addition in the field of story writing. This essay investigates and analyzes various aspects of Nayyar’s short stories.
